Lunar Rays

Lunar rays are streaks of material ejected from impact craters.

Observer Comments

Target DescriptionRays are quite sensitive to the moon phase. At full moon, three creaters (shown) are quite prominent. At other times, different craters reveal them. These are ejected material resulting from the impact of whatever formed the crater... presumably an object of some kind such as an asteroid or comet.
Image Capture DescriptionThis full moon image was an opportunistic capture with my Seestar on a clear night with good visibility, just because. At the time I was not contemplating the AL Lunar Program.
