DescriptionThis object wasn't discovered until 1950 as part of the Palomar Sky Survey using the 48" Schmidt telescope. It's pretty dim, though made more difficult to observe by its proximity to Regulus. At 850,000 light years away, this is thought to be the most distant dwarf galaxy gravitationally bound to the Milky Way. My first observation in a while. Seemed reasonably clear, but then clouds moved in and cut this observation short.
