Observer Comments
| Sunspot Activity | Overall this has been a very active rotation with many sunspots all of the time |
| Image Capture Issues | This has been a cloudy spring, and my first time trying to capture images on less-than-ideal days. So I went down a learning curve, in particular how to capture solar images when the sun breaks into the clear for only a few moments at a time. The keys are three-fold: 1) get the Seestar pointing on the sun's disk, even if it's barely visible. 2) Take advantage of the first break in the clouds to focus. No point in capturing an out of focus disk, and, 3) Stay on the now in-focus sun as long as you can while capturing multiple pictures whenever the disk looks clear. There's a "lucky imaging" effect where some of the images are sharper than others. |
