| Description | The first observation following a clear day, but with a full moon. As it turned out clear enough. Hard to interpret this object. Arp classified it as a galaxy with jets: presumably the bottom left is the galaxy and the jet is the long extension up and right. To my eye it could as easily be 3 galaxies, all viewed more or less edge on and connecting in a line. Any way you cut it this is an obscure object, appearing only in later catalogs. In recent years, this has been studied for evidence of supermassive black holes, which has been confirmed via multiple techniques. |
