Every photo in this website was edited in Affinity Photo. It’s a fab photo editor, nearly as full featured as Photoshop. In 2025 it was acquired by Canva, which offers the entire suite as a free editor and document production environment to complements its other services. I’ve used Affinity as my general photo editor for more than 10 years.
When I started EAA, I learned it has a comprehensive set of astro features including support for 32-bit FITS files, stacking, and a useful set of astro-processing macros developed by their astro guru, James Ritson. It also runs most macros developed for Photoshop. Available on Macs, PCs, and iPads. I currently run Noise-X-Terminator, nominally a “Photoshop” plugin from Affinity.
It has the best UI of any photo editor I’ve ever used (way better than Photoshop or GIMP) and superb integration with the Affinity Suite including Designer (vector graphics) and Publisher.
I used Adobe Creative Suite 2 on a PC and CS3, and 5 on Macs. When Adobe changed their licensing model I just couldn’t justify the cost. When I upgraded to Affinity I never looked back.
