Five Binocular Craters (of 14) around 7 Days
Five, more westerly, medium-sized craters visible using binoculars, and clearly visible in my my 8.6 day capture.
Observer Comments
| Target Description | I had originally placed all 14 "around 7 day" binocular craters on this image. The more westerly craters were fine, and these remain in this image. A few of the more easterly craters were challenging to position (though I succeeded with all of them). When I was able to capture a Quarter Moon, I marked them up on that base image instead. One of the things I've learned in this program is that craters are more clearly visible a day or two east of the terminator. Of course, you can be too close to the terminator, or west of it in full shadow, as these 5 craters were relative to the Quarter Moon. But as craters are located further east, they become harder and harder to identify without shadows defining the crater-walls. |
| Image Capture Description | This is another of my "library" photos, captured because it was a nice crisp view of the moon on an evening I was observing with the Seestar from my rear deck. |
