DescriptionCaptured under a full moon with intermittent high clouds. Frankly, I nearly shut this down. But I had little else to do (Bootes was among the clearest parts of the sky), so I kept it running, and after 40 minutes or so I started to resolve enough detail. This is a tiny, 13th magnitude target. By 60 minutes -- with some fairly heroic processing -- it doesn't look too bad.

This really is an odd duck. Categorized by Arp as a spiral with high surface brightness companion, it seems a bit of a stretch. Near as I can make out it's barely resolvable in Arp's image. High surface brightness restricts the options somewhat. Mostly it looks like a normal barred spiral with a bump on the left side (marked in the gallery with an ellipse) which, presumably is the companion, Arp's remarks, "Small separation between two knots in arm." is quite ambiguous.
