DescriptionA charming, large cluster discovered by Caroline Herschel, William's sister, in 1783. Caroline is a heroine in my book. She was an outstanding observer in her own right, but she was responsible for recording and cataloging all of William's discoveries and many of John's. She is responsible for the fact that we remember William's contributions, and her records were the original source documents for the New General Catalog, which documents "NGC" objects.

Captured on a lovely, mid-summer morning when I woke up early and decided to put out the Seestar.
