| Description | Omega Centauri is the largest globular cluster in the sky. It was first identified as a non-stellar object by Edmond Halley in 1677, though it was catalogued as a star (with the naked eye) by Ptolemy. Captured from the boardwalk for 13th St beach access on Tybee Island (near Savannah) just before heading out to the airport. I had to cut short the capture because a red sky presaging dawn was arcing towards the SE, and I figured more integration would reduce quality rather than improve it. |
