DescriptionThis is an attractive cluster of tiny galaxies discovered visually between 1863 and 1886 by two different astronomers. NGC 6975 is mislabeled on the annotation: it should be annotating the tiny, edge-on galaxy on the right, discovered last, and the galaxy labeled 6975 should be labeled 6976. The two other NGC markings in the annotation (6980 & 6973) are accurately placed, but refer to individual stars that appeared nebulous due to poor seeing when first discovered, and thereby erroneously listed in the NGC catalog. This image was one of the first captured with my Apollo M mini, which I acquired primarily to speed up capture of small galaxies such as these.
