| Description | I've always found the definition of a "Seyfert Galaxy" to be confusing. This was the brightest of 6 galaxies in Carl Seyfert's 1943 paper. All were spiral galaxies with unusually bright nucleii. All combined spectral characteristics of a typical G-type galaxy with unusually strong emissions similar to a young planetary nebula overlaid on top. Now understood to be the product of an AGN, a supermassve black hole. There are faint rings around this galaxy which you can "just" see in my capture. BTW, Sauron is the titular main antagonist of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, a powerful, immortal spirit known as a Maia who serves as the Dark Lord of Mordor. |
