Image DetailsUp is 90.5 degrees E of N. Total integration time was 17m. Bin 2. Exposures 30s@305g, UV/IR Cut Filter. Darks subtracted, no flats. Dithered and recentered in SharpCap. No guiding.
DescriptionThis was a target in the June 2024 CN Challenge. Captured Bin 2 because this is one of the shortest nights of the year, and I wanted to get good quality with relatively brief integration time. This is an "intermediate" spiral galaxy which almost certainly means this is fairly mature and has undergone some mergers during its lifetime. Compared to a "spiral galaxy", an intermediate galaxy has a larger and more diffuse central bulge, and the spiral arms are less tightly wound.
