Recent Observations
Herewith, a database of every observation I’ve ever made, most recent first! Click for more detail, or on the page links at the bottom to review more, 12 at a time, in descending chronological order…
Arp 92 / NGC 7603
A cornerstone of Arp’s “Intrinsic Redshift” debate. The companion galaxy has a very different redshift, and in 2001 two Spanish astronomers discovered 2 quasars perfectly aligned in the filament (not visible in my or Arp’s original capture)
NGC 2715: a Vera Rubin Galaxy
Sixth captured of 21 galaxies in Vera Rubin’s famous research paper from 1980 analyzing galaxy rotation postulating Dark Matter
NGC 1035: a Vera Rubin Galaxy
Fifth captured of 21 galaxies in Vera Rubin’s famous research paper from 1980 analyzing galaxy rotation postulating Dark Matter
NGC 1087: a Vera Rubin Galaxy
Fourth captured of 21 galaxies in Vera Rubin’s famous research paper from 1980 analyzing galaxy rotation postulating Dark Matter
NGC 2742: a Vera Rubin Galaxy
Third captured of 21 galaxies in Vera Rubin’s famous research paper from 1980 analyzing galaxy rotation postulating Dark Matter
NGC 753: a Vera Rubin Galaxy
Second captured of 21 galaxies in Vera Rubin’s famous research paper from 1980 analyzing galaxy rotation postulating Dark Matter.
NGC 7541 / 7581: a Vera Rubin Galaxy
First captured of 21 galaxies in Vera Rubin’s famous research paper from 1980 analyzing galaxy rotation postulating Dark Matter.
Sh2-112 / Nautilus Nebula
A beautiful emission nebula in Cygnus.
NGC 660 Revisit
Polar ringed lenticular galaxy, tough EAA target for an OSC camera.
Arp 37 / M77 Revisit
Challenging observation given hugely bright Seyfert nucleus and Arp’s ambiguous description of a low surface brightness companion.
Arp 31 / IC 167
One of six “integral sign” galaxies in the Atlas
IC 342 / Hidden Galaxy / C5 Revisit
A mono camera, with no IR cut filter, makes handy work of Caldwell 5!
