| Description | IC 1296 is the tiny galaxy below and to the right of M57, the famous Ring Nebula. There is a HUGE disparity in brightness: you can see M57 clearly on every frame, but IC 1296 didn't become visible at all until about 15m into the observation. As it is, unprocessed, M57 is blown out: this is actually a composite image, both taken at nearly the same time, but one with the histogram midpoint set much lower. This was a target set for the August CN EAA challenge. Obviously, this image violates EAA standard rules. |
